Aitken Partners is a signatory to the LIV Charter for the Advancement of Women. To further the principles of the Charter, Aitken Partners is launching the APW Business Network, which aims to create a network that allows women to build relationships, share experiences and network in a way that focuses on them.
We invite all of our clients, referrers and colleagues to attend this event (and future events), focusing on connecting, collaborating and sharing knowledge. Our invitation is also extended to any of your colleagues, and you are welcome to forward our invitation to them or include them in any RSVP.
To promote the launch of the APW Business Network, we have Robbi Chaplin as our guest speaker. Robbi will talk about her personal journey from a young girl who wanted to be a social worker so she could 'make a difference in the world' to becoming the CEO of a not-for-profit primary healthcare organisation. In this role, she quadrupled the size of the business, creating a $25 million dollar organisation.
Along the way, she scored many bumps and bruises but also had many wins, including being named 'Primary Health Care Organisation of the Year’. And she did all this as a mother to five children.
Now in her 50s and retired, she continues travelling the world to places like Mongolia, Laos, Switzerland and Botswana, still making a difference.
She will reflect on an almost universal experience for women, where the professional and the personal clash and how she thrived and survived. Part of that experience was the death of one of her sons and the professional and personal support she had in place that enabled her to get through to the 'other side'.
She will contrast her experience of recovery from trauma with a quick case study of a female street sex worker whom she worked with and helped recover from a very different experience of trauma and its impact on her life.
We hope you can join us for the launch of our APW Business Network to celebrate women across all fields and foster an upcoming support network for all women in business.
We believe that recognising and understanding diversity is the key to equality. As such, we encourage all our friends to attend this function, no matter how they identify their gender.
