The Aitken Partners x Svenson Barristers 2024 MOOT has come to it's riveting conclusion! We had the privilege of hosting the inaugural Aitken Partners x Svenson Barristers MOOT Grand Final, and what an incredible night it was!
The competition was fierce, with both teams making impressive submissions under the keen eye of Her Honour Judge Kirton. Each team showcased exceptional skill, particularly in their ability to respond to challenging questions from the bench.
Ultimately, it was the 'Subpoena Coladas' who took out The Kirton Cup, with our very own Lauren Woolley and Maddi Fenton, with Timothy Colcutt instructing, defeating the 'Litigation Lions' team of Zoe Zhou, Priscilla Chengabraydoo and Julia Popa. A special congratulations to Lauren who was deservedly awarded the title of leading advocate by Her Honour Judge Kirton.
A huge thank you to Her Honour Judge Suzanne Kirton for providing a unique and challenging experience for our junior lawyers.
To the team of barrister mentors from List members, thank you for the guidance and commitment you gave to our teams of solicitors. This moot was a resounding success, and we're extremely grateful to Anna Svenson and Jared Wright for all their hard work and support in delivering this event. We are incredibly proud of our strong and enduring relationship with Svenson Barristers, and look forward to continuing our partnership with you into the future!
Finally, to Paolo Tatti, Bao Ngo, Susan Ilias and Sarah Lyons, your contributions and efforts behind the scenes were invaluable.
Maddi Fenton:
"As a law student, the opportunity to collaborate with lawyers from different teams and with different experiences has taught me so much. Working through different problems and learning how to advocate for clients both in writing and orally is a skill I am grateful to develop as I commence my career. Having Darren and Temple from Svenson’s Barristers mentor my team throughout this opportunity has been invaluable, as I got to learn from their knowledge and experiences. Overall, my confidence to advocate for clients has developed due to this experience and I am so thankful to have had the opportunity to take part in this moot."
