Aitken Partners is delighted to welcome two highly experienced Principal Lawyers, Leisa and Alister Bayston, to our Commercial and Property team.
Aitken Partners is delighted to welcome two highly experienced Principal Lawyers, Leisa and Alister Bayston, to our Commercial and Property team, who commenced on Tuesday, 11th February.
Leisa and Alister bring with them a wealth of legal expertise and commercial acumen, having established and operated their own successful firm, Bayston Group Business Law, for nearly 15 years. Their firm, founded in December 2007, focused on providing personal, solution-driven legal services to businesses, specialising in the sale and purchase of businesses, structuring for start-ups and scale-ups, shareholder and founder agreements, subscription agreements, buy-and-sell agreements, intellectual property matters, and business-as-usual legal support. Their commitment to delivering practical and outcome-focused solutions has earned them a strong reputation in the industry.
In June 2022, Leisa and Alister joined FCW Lawyers to further expand their commercial offering, continuing to assist businesses with strategic legal guidance. Now, as part of Aitken Partners, they bring their deep industry knowledge and commercial insight to enhance our firm's capabilities and client service.
Extensive Commercial & Legal Expertise
Leisa began her legal career as a Corporate Tax consultant at Deloitte and PwC before transitioning to a legislative compliance role at Perpetual. She later moved into private practice as a Senior Associate at HWL Ebsworth for over two years, followed by nearly five years as an Associate Director at Macquarie Bank, where she developed a strong understanding of corporate structuring and finance.
Alister also has an impressive career history, with experience at HWL Ebsworth and key in-house legal roles at major organisations, including Munich Re, Australian Unity, and Smorgon Steel. He served as Senior Legal Counsel at Smorgon Steel for six years before its acquisition by OneSteel (now GFG Alliance) and continued to provide legal services to OneSteel through Bayston Group for another decade.

With their combined experience across private practice and in-house legal roles, Leisa and Alister bring a dynamic and client-focused approach to commercial law. Their addition strengthens Aitken Partners' ability to provide tailored, strategic legal advice to businesses of all sizes.
