Family Courts operating through COVID lockdown

The Family Court and Federal Circuit Court continue to operate throughout the Stage 4 Lockdown and hear Family Law Cases.

In particular, urgent Family Law cases will be triaged through a COVID-19 list at the Family Court and Federal Circuit Court. The case will be assessed by a Registrar and heard by a Judge within 72 hours. This is for cases involving children who are at risk and where there is an increased risk of family violence due to the Covid-19 restrictions in place.

Applications to the Court are now lodged electronically and hearings are conducted by telephone or videoconferencing.
