COVID-19 and your lease

We are receiving calls from our landlord and tenant client's for advice in relation to the COVID-19 (also known as the Coronavirus) and the impact on their leasing arrangements. In these uncertain times it is worth looking carefully at your lease agreement as it may contain clauses that assist you in your specific circumstances. Relevant clauses may include rent abatement and force majeure clauses.

Given that the COVID-19 outbreak was not foreseeable it is unlikely that your lease will deal with this issue specifically, however it is worth taking out your lease and checking.
